Confirmed this morning, Alan Rickman, 69 has passed away from cancer. The family of the ‘Harry Potter’ star and British icon released this statement, “The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends.”
Rickman, rose to fame in Hollywood as Hans Gruber in the first Die Hard film, and was beloved as the rotten Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Price of Thieves – for which he won a BAFTA. Perhaps his biggest role was as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series.
A true character actor was lost today. Rest in peace.
