Insurance Will Not Pay For Female Viagra

A new report has come out stating most insurance companies will not pay for women to get the female version of Viagra, even though they cover it for men.

According to CNN, a woman who would like to stay anonymous, said her boyfriend gets Viagra and his insurance pays for it, but when she wanted to take the new form “female Viagra” for her sexual problems she was denied coverage.

The drug called Addyi, needs a prescription from a psychiatrist first.

What! She’s not crazy.

“They don’t tell men who want Viagra that they have to see a psychiatrist,” said the woman.

“It’s a huge double standard,” said Weber’s gynecologist, Dr. Tami Rowen, an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California-San Francisco.

According to Dr. Irwin Goldstein, a sexual health specialist in San Diego, said this is routine for insurance companies to reject prescriptions for Addyi, but that’s not the case for Viagra.

According to CNN’s research one of the main reasons that women get turned down is they want them to try less expensive drugs even though they have not proven to work in sexual treatment issues and can have severe side effects.
