Gretchen Carlson, former host of Fox News‘ The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, is speaking out about why she was fired. Carlson has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the network’s chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. Gretchen accusses the FOX CEO of firing the news anchor because she would not have sex with him.
According to USA Today, “Ailes retaliated against Carlson in various ways. When Carlson met with Ailes to discuss the discriminatory treatment to which she was being subjected, Ailes stated: ‘I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago and then you’d be good and better and I’d be good and better,’ adding that ‘sometimes problems are easier to solve’ that way.”
The suit was filed on Wednesday in Bergen Country, New Jersey.
However, the CEO was not the only target of Carlson’s lawsuit. Co-host Steve Coocy is said to have also created a hostile work environment by being sexist toward Carlson. When Gretchen told Ailes, he allegedly told her to “get along with the boys.”
Gretchen also claims the harassment and firing has caused “significant economic, emotional, and professional harm,” and that she was denied:
