According to police, three people have been killed in India from sharp kite strings in a single day.
On August 15, two children, a 3-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy were looking out their sunroofs when kite strings tangled around their necks, tightened and fatally sliced their throats, according to a deputy commissioner of North West Delhi Police.
Also a 22-year-old man was lethally cut on his neck while riding a motorbike, according to Pushpendra Kumar, the deputy commissioner of the West Delhi Police.
All the victims were killed by Manja, a type of kite string made with glass.
The country is working on banning this type of kite.
