Texas troopers will be out in full force over Labor Day weekend to crack down on drunk driving.
The increased patrolling will begin Friday and runs through Labor Day next Monday according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
DPS stated, last year’s Labor Day holiday weekend there were 488 DWI arrests and 8,515 speeding citations issued. Troopers also issued 1,091 seat belt/child safety seat citations and 1,062 citations for drivers not having insurance, according DPS.
Director Steven McCraw of DPS said Monday that drivers should obey traffic laws and find other transportation if they plan to drink alcohol.
