There’s no time for Greta Van Susteren to say goodbye to her viewers as she has abruptly left Fox News as of Tuesday. Van Susteren took to Facebook to explain her exit.
Fox “has not felt like home to me for a few years and I took advantage of the clause in my contract which allows me to leave now,” she said.
A “key man clause” was triggered when Fox News chief Roger Ailes’ resignation in July after sexual harassment scandal. When he left, it freed her to leave too.
According to CNN, Van Susteren sought to renegotiate the terms of her contract after Ailes resigned, but Fox executives refused to negotiate.
Van Susteren said she hopes “to continue my career in broadcasting.” Van Susteren joined Fox News from CNN in 2002 and hosted “On The Record” for 14 years.
Due to the terms of Greta’s contract she cannot join another network for a while.
